Our lands are managed to the highest degree. We own and lease only the very best properties in the Heart of the Texas Rice Belt Waterfowl wintering area. We manage our lands for geese and ducks. Unlike other outfitters we have not only prime Goose hunting areas for the hunter but we also have Duck hunting available that is some of the best in North America. This is an important point to consider when choosing an outfitter to hunt with.

Our properties in the Eagle Lake and Katy Prairies consistently hold large numbers of Snows, Blues, Ross, Canadas and Whitefronted (Specks) Geese. Our lands also winter large numbers of Pintails, Teal, Shoveler, Gadwall, Wigeon, Mallards, and other Puddle and some Diving Ducks. The lands you will hunt are located West and Southwest of Houston in the Heart of the Best Waterfowl hunting zone in Southeast Texas.

When you come on a hunt with us we will be managing a hunting location just for you. We rest properties in expectation of your arrival. We have always had a reasonable game management program in effect. BUT NOW are implementing an even higher degree of game management and hunting pressure management. No one can or does manage their properties to the degree that we do in expectation of the hunter's arrival. This is an important aspect and one not to be overlooked when booking a hunt.

Another critical aspect of our operation is how hunting locations for each party are chosen. Unlike other guide services - the owner Larry Gore does NOT guide parties. Larry oversees the operation and daily decides where each hunting group will hunt. ELKPO's guides are some of the most well seasoned and knowledgeable waterfowl guides in the nation. Larry sets the parties with them and oversees the location each guide chooses for their parties hunt each day. Larry's and the guide's goal is to see to it that all parties have a good hunt. Other operations where the owner is guiding show total favoritism to the owner and the party he guides. If you are in the party the owner guides you get lucky - if not you get the scraps. With Larry Gore's ELKPO all groups hunting each day are treated the same. Each party is given special attention to hunting locations from Larry and his staff. No one group gets all the attention because the owner is guiding them. This is a very important point to consider when you book a hunt.

ELKPO will also be limiting the number of groups that we take on guided hunts on any given day. We will try to book your hunt to accommodate your preferred times to hunt - but we will also limit the number of hunters according to the availability of prime hunting locations. As noted above we also will be managing hunting locations for your group in expectation of your arrival. We will have rested managed locations for you to hunt. All of these things should leave no doubt that what we offer is superior to anything offered by any other guide service in South East Texas.
